The kora is a beguiling instrument, producing beautiful cascades of notes with a unique sense of ornamentation, not unlike baroque harpsichord music. Ravi's music ventures into worlds further from the griots. This music
entices the curious and rewards them with something far deeper than your average collisions of culture. Ravi has made a success of cross-pollination and has developed a unique style, partly by the use of nails, rather like
the classical guitar. This is the kind of disc outside our normal brief but should be of great interest to those of you with a liking for new timbres.
